World war 2 was fought on 4 continents mainly, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania (Australia is part of Oceania). More battles were fought in Europe than anywhere else, Primarily between Germany and Russia, However a great number of important battles occurred in Asia or Oceania. In a generalization the war was broken into two theaters of war, the Pacific Theater, mostly Oceania and partly Asia, and the European Theater, mostly Europe, but partly Africa and Asia. Some minor battles or events occurred as well in the Americas and Australia.
The events that signaled the final defeat of the Central Powers were revolution in Austria-Hungary, the signing of Armistice by Germans to put an end to fighting, the surrender of Ottoman Turks and Bulgarians, and many other events.
