World War I had numerous outcomes, some more local in nature and some with global effect. On both counts, territories were gained or lost by combatants, with indescribably severe damage and millions of deaths affecting those who survived in the lands affected by the conflict. With an effect upon the world that wasn't felt directly until the next world war, the treaty that concluded World War I created hardship and resentment in the defeated nations, particularly in Germany.
