1- manpower (more people) 2- industry (more factories) 3- money (more $$$) 4- transportation (more rail lines) 5- Navy 6- Finally, Lincoln!
NORTH WEAKNESS
1- military leaders SUCKED!
2- didn't have slaves to aid them, only " white " men, until later in the Civil war they recruited colored soldiers.
SOUTH STRENGTHS
1- Mostly "country boys" who were taught to shoot & ride early. 2- Military leaders-- Most of them West Pointers 3- Cotton ----------- For trading to Europe for weapons 4- Fighting in their home turf. Defensive battles mostly. 5- Quality of soldiers
SOUTH WEAKNESS
1- Not enough population 2- ports blockaded by Union Navy 3- No real industry 4- Lack of funds for war effort. 5- To large a front to defend
One of the South's main advantages was its superior military leadership. One of its weaknesses was its lack of a manufacturing base.
The North had a superior population, and their army was much bigger than that of the South. Also, the North had lots of manufacturing capability, as the economy in the North was industrialized.
The South had much more capable Generals than the North, and since most of the civil war was fought in the South, they knew the land better. The South couldn't make enough food and supplies for their army.
Some strengths and weakness's are South- Strengths- great leaders (Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson) and Thriving agriculture Weakness's- not as many people or a lot of factories and manufacturing plants North- Strengths- Lots of factories and manufacturing plants, more people Weakness's- not as good of leaders and distance for battle( most battles were fought in the south) ex. Battle of Vicksburg
Absence of these major advantages of the other side:
(Confederate)
Some of the best officers of the US Army had resigned to join the Confederates.
Traditional advantage in cavalry - most young Southerners could ride and shoot
Officer class - the army was a more natural choice of career for sons of rural landowners than in the industrial North.
Rank-&-file - a more soldierlike breed, a generally aggressive kind of people
Home-ground advantage - most battles were on terrain unfamiliar to the enemy
Stronger war-mission - to defend the homeland against the invader.
Their President did not have to face an election in mid-war, as Lincoln did.
(At the beginning) Prospect of recognition and military aid from Britain and France.
(Union)
Much bigger population from which to recruit armies.
Traditional advantage in artillery, including new rifled cannon
Industrial capability - access to all kinds of war-supplies
More railroad mileage - whole armies could move by train
Big enough navy to blockade Southern coast
Most talented President the Americans ever had
a. they had a larger population b. Better industry c. More connections with other countries
the north achieve its objective while the south.....
North
The north, you can tell by where it is! :)
The base cause of the Civil War was the disparate cultural differences between the North and the South. The South was primarily agrarian and the North was primarily industrial.

One of the main strengths of the North was its large navy. A disadvantage was that the North had fewer trained soldiers than the South.
The strengths are that it was the economy of the south and was efficient. The weaknesses are that it survived on slavery.
Some simple strengths and weaknesses the North and the South has are the North had a higher population, thus letting it have more recruits in war. They also had most of the nation's factories in the North, able to raise more money for the war, and they had lots of shipyards for naval vessels. The North didn't have a lot of well trained soldiers that could help with the army, though. The South had many good officers and veterans that helped them win most of the battles during the Civil War, but they had less people to recruit into their army because of the low populations.
the south couldn make bullets and keep up like the south because they depended on slavery while the north depended on machinery

the difficulty of the civil war was that the people fought as hard as they could. They risked their lives fighting. The north had more people, factories and railroads. Southerners were fighting to protect their lands.

Strengths:-It was a large agricultural factory for the South-It allowed the South to make a quick profit-The North got some of the profit as well-America was now the largest exporter of cottonWeaknesses:-Caused the South to buy more slaves-Excessive cultivation of land-Becoming a one-crop economy-Cotton began to take over their lives
North: Union South: Confederacy
The north and the south fought against each other in the civil war.
The north won the civil war.
