Well, it was Germany and Poland who were the first to fight in it, but it was really four countries that went to war at the same time. Britain, France, Germany, and Poland were the four.

Beligum went to war with Germany because Germany's plan was to cross or go throughout beligum to attack France from all angles. Belgium had told Germany not to come through because they were a neutral country and didnt want to get involved in the war. Poland. Germany had previously agreed in the Munich Agreement that if they were allowed to annex Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia they would not invade anywhere else. The Agreement was signed by Germany, Italy, Britain and France. Italy was allied with Germany so Britain and France declared war when Hitler invaded Poland in direct violation of the agreement.
