The Germans were not the axis power that invaded North Africa in WW II, although they did enter the conflict there, ostensibly in support of their Axis partner Italy.

Italy invaded British Somaliland in August 1940 and Egypt in September 1040. In December 1940, British Commonwealth forces began counter-offensives against Italian forces in Egypt and Italian East Africa. Hitler sent the first German forces to Libya in North Africa to support the Italians in February 1941.
