What year was the Vietnam war start and end?

The beginning was July 1958 for all practical purposes. That is when the "new war" was recognized. Howeber Military Advisors had been in Country since 1950, and the first real combat was on Sept. 26, 1959 when the Viet Cong ambushed 2 ARVN Companies. The end . . . well documented was April 30, 1975. I have a friend who was sent to Viet Nam in the last days to recover and burn the sheets of US currency that had been used to provide viability to the RVN South Vietnamese Country.
