World War 1 was fought mainly in France (The Western Front), Russia and the Austrian Empire, Northern Italy and adjacent parts of the Austrian Empire, and in the Near East in places that became Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine. Lesser engagements took place in Africa and other parts of the world.
