Calais. For every Allied reconnaissance flight over Normandy, two were flown over Calais to increase the deception. The Germans expected that George Patton rather than Bernard Montgomery would be leading the invasion, so a dummy army under Patton was created to indicate that Calais was the objective. Another dummy army in Scotland was created to confuse the Germans into thinking that Norway might also be a possible site for the invasion.

The attack commonly referred to as the "Invasion of Normandy" and D-Day occured on June 6, 1944 between the allies and Germany. It is considered one of the major the turning points of the war in Europe.
During World War II, the Allied invasion that was most clearly expected by the German occupiers of Europe was Operation Overlord, the "D-Day" invasion of Normandy in June of 1944. The Germans did not know that this invasion would take place in June nor against the Normandy coast; however, they were expecting some invasion-attempt against the coast of Western Europe during the summer of 1944.
The bulge was when the Germans surged ahead 60 feet in the Allied defenses in the Ardennes' Forest.

D Day was the Allied Invasion of Nazi-occupied Europe. It occurred on June 6, 1944, on the beaches of Normandy - a part of northern France.
Operation Bodyguard was the Allied plan to deceive Germany into thinking the invasion would occur at a different place and time than the D-Day landings. While they were mostly expecting the attack at Calais, France, Operation Bodyguard also led the Germans into believing a possible attack could take place elsewhere, such as the Balkans, southern France, and Norway.
Huh? France was invaded by the Allied Forces (mainly the Americans and the Brits). It took time for the Allied Forces to get France completely freed of the German Nazi presence. Germany had taken over France back in 1940 and the allies took it back in 1944. The liberation did not occur on D-Day. It was only the first day the Allied Forces had reached Normandy and started fighting the Nazi Germans. See the related link below for the fabulous story of the liberation in August 1944.
Clarification: D-Day as most people refer to the Invasion of Normandy is only one D-Day of hundreds. D-Day is the first day a military mission, campaign or attack is referred to as day one. The next days are called D-day plus one, D-day plus two and so forth until the end of the battle or campaign. Normandy Invasion had to occur to get the Allied Troops into Germany Occupied European nations to get them liberated of the nasty Nazi Germans. World War 2 was caused by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Third Reich invading other nations and taking them over. See link below.
