during world war one, propaganda was the main form of media. These posters either convinced people to join the war by glorifying the war, or they made us hate the enemy by exaggerating how they really were. During world war two, citizens were encouraged to plant victory gardens so more of the products in stores could go to the soldiers in the war, who were in desperate need of reparation's.

The three sources of media power are ownership, audience reach, and agenda-setting. Ownership refers to who controls the media platform, audience reach is the size and demographics of the audience the media reaches, and agenda-setting is the ability of the media to influence which topics are considered important in society.
