Russia's participation in WW1 is often flossed over by historians in general because they quit the war right in the middle of it (due to their Bolshevik Revolution); afterwards in which faster paced actions buried the Russian's participation into obscurity. Italy experienced the same thing; only a brief mentioning in the history books, because they quit WW2 right in the middle of it, in 1943.

Historians in general gloss over Russia's participation in WW1, because they quit the war to pursue their Russian Revolution (Bolshevik Revolution of 1917). Historians moved onward to follow the actions of the remaining participants of the "Great War" (WW1). Italy experienced the same; they quit WW2 in '43. Historians had to keep up the pace to follow the remaining combatants...Germany & Japan for the next two years.
