The Germans first attack was at the Polish in 1939. The German generals had created a tactic called "blitzkrieg" meaning "lighting warfare". The operation was a huge success with the Polish defeated within a month. It was one of the most successful attacks ever in modern history with low casualties for the Germans.

The question is puzzling as it was Germany that launched the first attack in World War 2 in Europe - against Poland, on 1 September 1939.
