I know he died in 1958. The veterans' clubs had long since merged into one national association, with no distinction between Union and Confederate. They went on meeting till there were only three men left. Then with great reluctance, they faced up to it that it was time to pack up.

The Confederate States of America was made up of the states that seceded from the US to bring about the Civil War. When the war ended these states returned to the Union and the Confederate States ceased to exist. The Confederate States had only one president and that was Jefferson Davis. He might be called a confederate president, I suppose, but he was not president of the US.

There were only two (2) issue dates in 1861 for notes of Confederate currency in the State of Virginia. If your question is for a $100,000.00 note, then the answer is $0 due to the fact no notes of this amount were printed. If your question is for the value of a $1,000.00 note, the answer would depend on 1) the serial number found on the note and 2) the condition of the note itself. The Confederate currency of the State of Virginia was some of the best quality currency printed in the South, therefore your note has a better chance of worth than say a note from another state.
The only person to die in the American Civil War and who is also featured on any of the currency notes of the Confederate States of America is General Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson. Jackson's portrait is featured on the 1864 Confederate $500 note. Jackson was shot by one of his men at the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 2, 1863. He survived but lost an arm to amputation. He died of complications of pneumonia eight days later.

The CSA only existed during the Civil War from 1861 to 1865 so there can't be an 1854 Confederate bill. In any case the vast majority of "Confederate" bills on the market are replicas. If yours is in unexpectedly good condition you may have one of those, but a currency expert would have to examine it in person to be sure.
