I think technically it may be soldier Leslie Croft. He was injured by shrapnel in 1943 and oddly enough died as a result of the injuries he sustained 64 years later!

71 million people around the world died during World War 2. They were armed forces, merchant marines, civilians of all types (including women and kids), and 6 million Jews.

They came from over 20 countries and were killed at sea or on land all over the world. Some died from battle wounds, but believe it or not, more civilians died from being wounded, starved, killed by disease, killed from exposure, raped and killed, burned to death and the Japanese died from radiation burns, sickness and cancer.
A lot of people.
