Gaining income and raw materials. Most of the European countries were lacking basic resources and necessities. Being good navigators and mariners, they tried to explore other accessible areas to obtain them. For that they tried to set up territories or colonies which were badly exploited to enrich the imperial country.
This has a lot of answers.
First of all European Countries conquer other territory to expand their own land and territory. They also gain/control the economy, society, culture, basically everything of the country/land that they own. Countries thought they were superior hence, nationalism. They thought it was and 'ok' thing to do. This led to clashes between imperialist powers (such as Britain, France, Belgium, Italy, and later on Germany wanted some land too!)
Really speaking, the countries that the governments didn't start to invade other countries. The people of European countries were rustics that time. They just were skilled in stealing others wealth. Among the thieves some were very brave, collecting lots of fighter under them, they went to pirate from many lands. each group of such 'rowdies' was called a company. They travelled to find wealthy regions. Having found some places they stayed there, fought with local people, killed them, acquired their wealth, brought them back and enjoyed.
And slowly they developed the technology to pirate with modern weapon, appointing rowdies as officers to pirate, giving them good salary etc.
for e.g. India was actually not ruled by Britan government, but by such a company called 'East India Company', and that was not actually the name of that company too. They had set such rowdies team to pirate in other countries to. Like this only they kept the branch names with the name of those countries, to do the admin works easily. Actually 'East India Company' means the Branch of Pirating company in East India. When the people and kings were fighting them to vacate, and when they felt it is difficult to continue their business, the 'East India Company' sold its power to London government for a good price.
Having seen this successful pirating business, some governments also decided to conquer other regions with weak government and army. They also started doing the same business, pirating in other countries they served their people.
anyway, there is a quest in us to know that what was the driving force in them to pirate the world? We can sense few reasons with lots of studies and data. Mainly the uncultured community, were the people thought they can destroy anybody to enjoy their life. Secondly poverty was a reason to push them in some cases. Third is the immature mind which was not able to sense the pain of others, and this one continues even now too.

Yes. The treaties that compelled countries to support other countries led to the involvement of most of the countries of Europe. This might have occurred eventually anyway, as evidenced by the entry of the US in 1917.
i believe Germany captured Austria and some small countries around it. Other than that Europe was just bombed.
Russia was state capitalist and controlled other eastern European state capitalist countries. They had no connection at all with Communism (a classless stateless society based on production for use).

Yes.
The Spanish established colonies in the Americas long before many other European countries because they were the early pioneers (or, pathfinders) in the Age of Exploration. With the inclination and income pertinent for supporting explorers, they sent out teams ready to colonize (and conquer) well before most of their European rivals.
he fought with the king of those other countries

The same reason every European country set out to conquer others- To establish their superiority over OTHER European countries, gain wealth, steal natural resources, and spread their religion to the native peoples.
