The casualties were about average compared to past US wars when combating the military forces of another nation.
In fact, more men lived than compared to past wars, because of the quick medical evacuations made possible by the helicopter. Although, at the same, more men lost their limbs than in some major past wars, due largely to the vast variety of weapons deployed in Vietnam.
As necessary as the cold war was....so yes
The war of capitalism against communism. The US always had hatred to communism. And then we thought that all the countrys near vietnam the north vs the south if communism won then the domino theory would kick into play where it makes all surrounding country's fall into the same power and the US wanted to prevent that prevent so many deaths. they were trying to make up for their wronges in World war 2 and not acting fast enough to stop so many deaths. So it was a unjust war to vietnam no clear reason why and it was also considered a deadly defeat that will put them in fear to us.
The 1st IndoChina War, also called the "French Indo-China War", or the "French Vietnam War."
Since the war lasted so long and so many men were rotating in and out of South Vietnam from so many branches of service; US Army, US Marine Corps, US Navy, US Air Force, US Coast Guard...and probably civilians too (CIA, Contractors, etc.), plus there were so many 2nd, 3rd, and more "tours" in the Vietnam war...it simplified everything all the way around to simply state "in country." Meaning "he's either here or he ain't."
it occured because it could so deal with it!
After the war, there was a reunification of Vietnam. So the answer is "One country".
because many american were against the vietnam war so there was 2 groups.
thousands ;]
Yes, the Vietnam War was well, a war as you can tell because it says it in its name Vietnam WAR! so ya........ it is..............
Over twice as many tons of bombs dropped in Vietnam than in all of WWII.
When the Vietnam War passed into history, so did the hippies.
Some people were against the Vietnam War because young men were being drafted to fight in the war.
The nation of Vietnam came into existence in 1975 (on paper in 1976). So are you asking about that Vietnam or the Vietnam War? There was no nation called "Vietnam" during the Vietnam War.
The Vietnam War was the first war to be televised to the public. So America saw everything that was going on in Vietnam and wanted to pull out of the war.
There was no "Vietnam" during the Vietnam War. Communist NORTH Vietnam was attacking non-communist SOUTH Vietnam, and the US was trying to drive the communists out of South Vietnam...trying to stop communist aggression. It's called the Vietnam War because it's a lot easier to say, and less confusing...than to say "South Vietnam War" or "North Vietnam War", so some people go so far as to say the war in Southeast Asia instead.
Not so great
The Vietnam war distracted the American people from Johnson's plan for a "Great Society".
