If soldiers at the front know that the 'folks back home' don't support the war or are opposed to it, that can be very demoralizing indeed.

There would only be a few reasons why somebody should support war

1. They have been brought up in a country that supports it

2. They are forced to support it

3. They know somebody fighting in the war
