system of colonising by ex military personal and families, is probably as old as Empire. It was certainly a Roman tactic. It provides a bulwark against invasion in that veterans are to hand to mobilise in case of aggression by a foreign enemy.
The immediate cause of the war was the June 28, 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, by Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian Serb citizen of Austria-Hungary and member of the Black Hand. The retaliation by Austria-Hungary against the Kingdom of Serbia activated a series of alliances that set off a chain reaction of war declarations. Within a month, much of Europe was in a state of open warfare. The context which helps explain the war was increasing economic and military competition between Britain and Germany. Germany's industrial economy was fast overtaking Britain's, but the German economy lacked a major empire to back up its home economy. The economic race between the two powers led to military competition, in particular the building of numerous "Dreadnoughts" -powerful military ships.
In almost all cases, the hand salute is rendered with the right hand. Some soldiers may salute with the left hand when the right hand is encumbered in some way(though it is rare), for example, a soldier with a rifle at Right Shoulder Arms; if movement of a weapon would be encumbered when making the armed salute; if the performance of duty requires the right hand for use or operation of equipment such as riding a motorcycle; if it is not possible to use the hand due to injury or amputation; when escorting a woman and it is not possible to walk on her right side. There is an exception for Cavalry soldiers that are dismounted- they salute with the left hand- the reins of the horse are in their right hand.
It takes 1 minute to die from a 45 caliber If you are military and you remember your training. You have a very good chance of survival. Just remember your SABC. (Self Aid Buddy Care) The hand and arm are extremities to the body where mitigating the loss of blood is not impossible or that difficult to do. You can even perform the necessary actions yourself under fire if you have to. Most military members in combat today deploy with a SABC Kit that includes a patented Combat Torniquet. (a torniquet you can apply to yourself with one hand)
