Yankees were the northern part of America to fight in the civil war the "blue guys"
There are some disagreements about why President Lincoln and the Northerners were willing to fight a war to save the country instead of letting the South secede peacefully. It may have been because the United States was largely seen as a political experiment and they didn't want to see it fail.
so that they can have no sins. THIS also goes for anyone who decided to fight.
Women did not fight in the Civil War. But, some did dress up like men to help out in the war.
it was a fight :]
Yes.
Southerners wanted to fight for their rights so they volunteered. They believed that slaves were their property and taking them away would be like taking away your house. Northerners were very against slavery.
About 3.5 million slaves and about another 500,000 free blacks. The total southern population was 9 million, so that left five million white southerners to fight the 21 million white northerners.
Most southerners weren't for the war, they just wanted freedom from the North and the ability to own slaves. Less than 5% of the people in the South owned even a single slave. The South was agricultural and exports of agricultural products were taxed. The North was industrialized and the import of finished products was taxed. Before the Civil War 85% of the national budget was collected in the southern states.
There is no good answer to this question. There is no solid definition for "boy" for that time. Many thousands of northerners below age 16 joined. Tens of thousands of southerners below age 16 joined the fight. Soldiers as young as 12, 13 and 14 were not uncommon.

The saying at the time was, "Rich Man's War, Poor Man's Fight."

The patriots faght the british so that they could have civil rights.
freed slaves willing to help fight the south
At the start of the war mostly rich white southerners were against the war and helped Great Britain since the king gave them vast amount of land. Later in the war however the southerners began facing common problems with the northerners so they united to fight for a common cause
Pride in their new nation. But also because they were an aggressive breed who welcomed an opportunity for a darn good fight. Defending slavery was probably not front-of-mind.
