How did Abarham Lincoln die and who killed him?

First, we all have to die sometime and that included Abraham Lincoln. The main reason he died was because of the American Civil War.

On April 14, 1865, only five days after General Lee surrendered at Appomattox, President Lincoln attended an English play ~ Our American Cousin ~ at Ford's Theater in Washington, DC.

Lincoln watched the play from a box overlooking the stage. In the middle of the drama, John Wilkes Booth ~ a former actor, and brother to one of the most famous 19th century actors, Edwin Booth ~ entered the box. Closing the door behind him, Booth aimed his pistol at Lincoln's head and fired.

He slashed the President's aide, Major Rathbone, with a dagger, leaped to the stage (breaking his leg in the process), and fled. Lincoln died the next morning.

It is believed that Wilkes was part of a movement in the South to continue the Civil War to eventually reinstate slavery.
