Yellow fever and Kidney failure, that is how her parents died
The exact cause of death for Madam Walker's parents, Owen and Minerva Breedlove, is unknown. No death certificates exist and it was rare during the 1870s for death certificates to be issued for most people, especially for African Americans in Delta, Louisiana where they had lived. Madam Walker was born Sarah Breedlove and by the time she was seven years old both her parents were dead. Minerva died first and Owen remarried, but he soon died, too. There is a possibility that Minerva died during an 1873 cholera epidemic, but there is no documented evidence of her cause of death, just as there is no documented evidence of Owen's cause of death.
