The role that religion played in helping the urban poor was making them feel hope full of their future, since they believed a higher being was taking care of them they developed a sensation of "hope". Also religion made churches, that helped the poor with shelter and food. This "religion" or belief system was spread quickly in poor urban community making it spread to almost all born in that community. This "religion" has many versions such as Christianity, Islam, Scientology and, various amounts of other versions. since most did not question the truth of these belief systems or were killed, religious belief in the community was kept constant. Also rulers such as dictators or kings developed churches to keep most poor people under fear of hell thus, preventing some crimes and revolutions. However, since modern times, democratic governments and, technological advances religious belief has begun to weaken and die out (slowly). As of now, We have no absolute knowledge where "life" came from and many other unanswered questions. We can only work on making theories into provable scientific laws or accepting assumptions as facts. For now....
