there originally were people in Russia. they crossed over the Bering Sea when it was frozen in ice, and landed in what is now Alaska. they moved south with the food they hunted, and settled all around the uninhabited by human beings North America
It is speculated that the native Americans crossed a land bridge over the Bering Strait 15,000 to 30,000 years ago, entering the Americas. However, this is not completely proven. Polynesians may have crossed the Pacific as well, but this would have been an incredible feat given the distance involved.
About 15000 years ago during the last ice age when the oceans were much lower than now people from Asia began crossing what is called "the Bering land bridge" (a strip of land over 1000 miles wide north to south linking Asia and Alaska).
Between 15000 years ago and 12000 years ago they lived on "the Bering land bridge" and southwestern parts of Alaska that were free of ice. Other Asian peoples also joined them during this 3000 year period and interbred with each other, forming a people more like modern Native Americans than their various Asian ancestral peoples.
About 12000 years ago an ice free passage opened from Alaska going south across Canada and these early Native Americans began entering the main part of North America. It is also believed that about the same time some Native Americans began following the western coast of North America south from Alaska.
Other Asian peoples continued to cross "the Bering land bridge" for a few thousand more years until the level of the oceans rose and submerged it again. They interbred with existing Native Americans in Alaska and some of them also moved south.
In North America with the Indians
They travelled by foot on land but if on the sea, they would have a boat something similar to an umiak or baydara.
It depends which woodland tribe it is.
They crossed over the land bridge called Beringia
southern colonies refused to use indians as forced labor
