What homes did the Tutelo Tribes live in?

The Tutelo lived in homes much like those used by the Saponi and Occoneechee; domed homes that were made by bending and tying saplings together. This frame was then covered with large strips of Elm bark. On the inside furs would be hung to help insulate it in winter. In the summer, the furs would be removed as well as some of the bark for more ventilation. Benches would be placed around the inside as well as platforms for sleeping. The Tutelo home was called an ati. These homes were more rounded than those used by the Cherokee, which were taller and came to a point.
