Christopher Houston Carson, better known as Kit, was born on December 24, 1809 in Kentucky. He was a well known Indian fighter and trailblazer. After leaving home at age 16, he became a mountain man and trapper and married into the Cheyenne and Arapaho Indian tribes. He died at age 58 on May 23, 1868 from an abdominal aortic aneurysm in Fort Lyon, Colorado.
