While not indisputable evidence, it is a possibility. Supposedly, 75-85% of people of European heritage have the trait. I would take it simply as only one part of the evidence of native heritage and use genealogical methods to confirm. Some people are now using DNA tests to assist in their genealogy.

Of special note regarding dental traits and Native American heritage, it is said that people with shoveled incisors are likely to have Native heritage also. If the back of your upper front teeth have a scooped out appearance, rather than being smooth, then you have shovel shaped incisors. Once again, not 100 percent proof, but pretty good evidence to add to the puzzle.
