Moses Austin wanted to colonize Texas because he had lost all his money in the Panic of 1819. He could not escape his debt in any conventional way so he wanted to establish his own colony as a source of income.
Actually Moses Austin brought the settlers to a piece of land and they were the ones who chose where their land was and the land was near the rivers so they could get their resources.
so he could have something named after him
In 1821, Moses Austin, who was living in Louisiana at the time, received permission to bring approximately 300 colonists to settle in Texas. On his way to Missouri for the settlers, he was brutally attacked by highwaymen, who robbed and severely beat him. He eventually made it to Missouri, but died before he could bring the settlers to Texas.
Because Moses fled for his life before he could be arrested.
Oh, dude, land prices in Stephen F. Austin's colony varied a lot, like trying to predict the weather in Texas. It depended on factors like location, quality of the land, and whether it came with a free cowboy hat. So, like, you could say it cost anywhere from a few cents to a few dollars per acre, but don't hold me to that, man.
he wanted people who were willing to work not people who had second thoughts about his colony,if you were not sure he did not want those settlers to come.other than that any settler could come under his conditions.
Moses Austin received permission to locate an empresarial plantation in Texas but died before he could launch the settlement. It was left to son Stephen F. Austin to fulfill his father's dream. And Stephen Austin had to secure the permission from the new Mexican government, which displaced Spanish rule that same year before he could bring the first Anglo families into Texas. He traveled to Mexico City in 1822-1823 to secure Mexican recognition of the Spanish grant. This done, he colonized the 300 families, as well as an additional 750 families under subsequent contracts. It was 1835 when Santa Anna took power in Mexico.
Moses was given two special signs by God that he could perform before the Israelites and before Pharoah. One was that he could turn his staff into a serpent, the other was that he could put his hand inside his tunic and it would turn leprous, then put it back in and it would be clean.
