All Native American 'Governments' were Socialist Republics (Socialist by the broad term, and Republics in that they had a set of laws that no one could violate). There was no real theory of government to most tribal peoples, there was simply respected leadership, and when that failed the tribe split or in some cases ousted the leader (or in rare cases, killed them)
