The British withdrew from Boston in 1776 after American troops, led by General Thomas, secured Dorchester Heights with fortifications and cannons. The American forces could hit any British ship in the harbor from this location forcing the British to withdraw.
New York City was the only major city held by the British throughout the Revolutionary War. The British held Boston at the beginning of the war, but withdrew in March of 1776; they captured New York in September. The British captured Newport, Rhode Island, in 1776 but left in 1779, to concentrate their forces in New York. The French took over Newport and used it as their base of operations for the rest of the war. That prompted the British to withdraw from Philadelphia, which they had captured in 1777, to further reinforce their stronghold in New York.
For the British yes.

The British withdrew from Boston because canon were placed on Dorchester eights, overlooking Boston. This made the British position untenable as the town could be bombarded from the heights and the British could not effectively fire back. So they withdrew.

The British left Boston in March 1776. They left for Canada to regroup to fight in other places including New York.
The British evacuated the city on March 17, 1776, after the patriots had fortified Dorchester Heights.
The Battle of Bunker Hill -- actually fought on Breeds Hill -- took place on June 17, 1775, as part of the Siege of Boston during the American Revolution. The eventual outcome was a pyrric victory for the British who suffered their greatest losses of the Revolutionary War. The Americans had to abandon their positions after they ran out of ammunition but the British "victory" did nothing to lift the siege, which continued until St. Patrick's Day in 1776, when the British withdrew from Boston.
