it was bad because the west keep getting crowded because everybody thought they would find gold and the people didnt get treated right the chinese got excluded from the u.s for ninety nine days and the women were forced to be prostituits for no pay and the africans were not treated equelly

  • the west opened up new jobbing opportunities
  • the population in the east was becoming overcrowded
  • the rumor of the California Gold rush led people to think they would find gold
  • the west had lots of unused, fertile land.
