Abraham Lincoln cared most about the Union and forcing the South back into the Union. Frankly, He did not care about slavery or the conditions of slaves in the least. Here Abraham Lincoln's letter to abolitionist Horace Greeley describes his sentiments in regard to this matter:

"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union"

First off Abraham Lincoln is dead so he doesn't have a passion he had a passion. His passion was to get rid of slavery in the states. (and he did :)
