Arizona: Phoenix

In Australia: Perth, named after Perth, Scotland in honor of the birthplace of Sir George Murray, British Secretary of State for Colonies, and Parliamentary Member for Perthshire in the House of Commons.

All the other Australian state capitals, Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney, are named after people, as is Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory.

Canberra, capital of the Australian Capital Territory, is named for the cattle station called Canbery by its owner, Joshua John Moore, for the local Aboriginal name for the area, pronounced something like Canberry or Canbury, and reportedly meaning either a meeting place or a woman's breasts (after a couple of nearby mountains, the peaks of which could be seen from the area).
