The Lost Generation was the name given to the men who came back from fighting in World War I. They were disillusioned and depressed, because the fighting was unlike anything the world had ever seen. The men of the Lost Generation had lost their beliefs and their naivete about that world.

In history the members of the lost generation were considered to be the young men who went into World War One. This was considered the lost generation due to the vast numbers of young men who died, which greatly harmed the population of most of the world's countries as well as the issue that arose from the men who survived. The chaos and atrocities the young men experienced shaped their childish minds into mature minds of horrid knowledge, not giving the young men a chance to grow up as a normal person may have. The difficulties of the time of war caused many people to lose their naivety and innocence.
