The man most famously associated with exploring what is now the southwestern United States is Francisco Vázquez de Coronado. In the 1540s, he led an expedition through present-day Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas in search of the legendary Seven Cities of Gold. His journey contributed significantly to European knowledge of the region and its indigenous cultures.
The first white man credited with navigating the Tennessee River was Christopher Columbus Baldwin in 1540. Newfoundland was discovered and explored by João Fernandez Lavrador, a Portuguese explorer. He explored the area in 1498. The area called Labrador is said to be named somewhat after him.
It was Jacques Cartier that explored Canada and claimed it for France. When arriving in the region the area was then known as Newfoundland. It was in 1534 when Jacques Cartier arrived in the area now known as Canada.
Louisiana, it was named after the French King Louis XIV. When René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle claimed the territory drained by the Mississippi River for France, he named it La Louisiane, meaning "Land of Louis". Louisiana was also part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain of the Spanish Empire. The territory was acquired in 1803 by the United States through the Louisiana Purchase from France. Also, a big city in the US was named after a French King, Louis XVI: Louisville in Kentucky.
Very weird question ,but Samuel de Champlain discovered because he was a very smart man and thats what he did was discover. He discovered because he was a mariner and french explorer so he explored alot.
