On February 12, 1993 2-year-old toddler James Bulger was abducted from a shopping centre in Merseyside, Liverpool, by 10-year-olds Jon Venables and Robert Thompson.
Along the way the boys beat him severely and left him for dead on the train tracks. His body was cut in half by the oncoming train and according to a pathologist he was already dead when the train struck him.
His mutilated body was discovered two days later.
