Subjugation of Native Americans was the removal of them from lands wanted by Anglo-Americans for settlement, and forcing them onto reservations. Despite a treaty with the United States entitling them to the lands, settlers were encroaching on the lands.

Prior to the European colonization of the Western Hemisphere, Indians were purely self-governing. Now they are part of ethnically European-dominated nations such as the US. They are subjugated to that extent. But European civilization is not all bad, it has benefits as well. It could be described as either a mixed blessing or perhaps a mixed curse. You decide.
