There was lots of problems the main problems was the mistreatment of the African American population during this period.
American writers took up their pens to expose what they considered the shallow and money-centered culture of their nation. They questioned the materialistic American culture, and believed money destroyed lives. They were anti-business, and partly pro-communist.
African American reparations were supposed to be a payment to relatives of people that were slaves. For a short period of time, people were given land and a mule, that was ultimately taken away.
She is still alive and is in her late 50's or early 60's. She was the first African American woman in space in 1992.

It was not only in New York did they go but the Statue of Liberty symbolizes their new found freedom after leaving the harsh South. This period for the African Americans was also know as the Harlem Renaissance, a new birth of African American culture.
The Mississippian period is named after the Mississippi River, where the culture and civilization of this time period flourished in North America. This era is known for its mound-building societies that thrived along the Mississippi River and its tributaries.
