The TVA is- a federal agency, the initials stand for Tennessee Valley Authority. It had oversight and operational control over the construction and operation of huge dams and storage facilities, power plants, etc in the Tennesee Valley area and was operated by the Federal Government. The agency dates to the Depression and understandably it benefitted the job market, economy. The problem is, like any big authority in ran essentially top-down and there was little if any democratic oversight as to public opinion, possible relocation of homes, farms, business establishments ( do not confuse with evacuations sparked by, say forest fires) - the whole thing was definitely Big Brother and there was no elective input, say, for example Bond Issues to hold out a finger in the wind of- public opinion. the TVa survives but is almost one of a kind. My guess is it is managed by either the dep. of the Interior, or maybe Energy. a book has been written on it called- TVA- Democracy on the March! I think you should read this book if this subject flags your attention, no pun intended.
