The proclamation of 1763 happened at the end of the French and Indian war. The proclamation of 1763 prohibited settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains and was and was England's way of controlling expansion to save on governing cost.

After the colonist and the British had won the war , The British desisted not to let the colonist cross north or east of the Appalachian mountains . They didn't want them to cross because they couldn't afford to protect the colonist for the Indians attacks.
