the battle of the coral sea was a major battle in world war two fought between the imperial Japanese army and the allied navies and air forces the outcome was the defeat of the Japanese army this spelt the end of the Japanese armies. This means is that the Japanese could never again threaten Australia and NewZealand

Tactically Japan won the Coral Sea battle but they took the most casualties and lost more naval vessels that did damage their Naval Fleet with some impact. The battle showed the Japanese that the Americans could find the Japanese vessels and do serious damage.

See the chart below showing the Allied Forces and the Japanese Naval Force damage during that battle. The left side was the US Navy and the right side is the Japanese Navy.
