The reasons behind lynching's in United States history is because racism fueled hate towards African-Americans. If a white American was offended by their behavior of an African-American they could use this as a reason to lynch them.

I think your referring to lynching where people were hung by there necks with a rope

1890s and after the vast majority of those lynched were Black and going through the Civil Rights Movement

Blacks needed to fight for their rights as American citizens
