Many white scientists believe that theoretically they primarily came from Asia when, due to the ice age, there was a land bridge across the bearing [sp?] straight. This theory is flawed because animals needed for survival migrated from north to south in the Siberian regions as opposed to east and west making it irrational for a people to travel towards some sort of "promised land" in an exodus-like droves. The terrain would have been extremely barren as well thus making undesirable for most species, including human, to desire to travel along this path as means for survival. A path through the glacier opened in Canada which allowed the people to travel south. They came in several waves (unproven). DNA testing has proved that native North and South Americans descended from Asia (although no one has been sited as a source for this information).
There is also scientific evidence that a group of people known as the Solutreans migrated from the north coast of Spain to America following the edge of the ice shelf across the northern Atlantic. This is hypothesized due to the existence of an arrow head making technology called the Clovis tool kit found throughout North America which did not exist in Asia but did in Europe. These people would have been absorbed by and assimilated into the Asian group which had much greater numbers. yet these continue to all be part of a large theoretical community bent on discrediting the Native American for being an original human species separate from the orient (blacks, white, and asians).
Native Americans have history in the Americas dating back 20,000 years and have thus been on that area of land longer than any other human species. Most Native American religion and philosophies show no record of being from Asia but rather suggest that these people originated in the Americas. The imposition that they are from Asia purely out of some relgious and political perspective to ensure anybody else's "right" to occupy their native land is often regarded as extremely insulting to the Native American people.
