The Boston Tea Party happened in the city and the British retaliated against it. They launched the Battle of Bunker Hill and the Boston residents fought back. As an important port and shipping center, Boston would be one of the first places to get news from Europe and to deal directly with British forces than many others in the colonies. As a result, there was a hotbed of revolutionary activity in Boston.
