The reasons why the Starving Time occurred was because 1)the Indians (the Powhatan) got mad at the Englishmen for not trading, so they made sure that they couldn't get to their stockade outside of the town. Another reason is because all of the men there were greedy, and whenever they could find food, they would eat it. This lead to no more food in the middle of winter.
