Africans were originally brought to America as slaves, and that created a bad relationship with European Americans from the beginning. After the end of slavery, many people who had always treated people of African descent as inferior to people of European descent saw no reason why they should stop doing that, just because slavery was abolished. Racism is a form of collective selfishness. People tend to want to advance the interests of their own group at the expense of other groups.

theyy were treated like that because whites did not think of them as a peron they thought of them as a thing they were also their (master or (plantation) owner)
