1st century AD warrior queen wife of Prasutagus, king of the Iceni, a tribe that is now in the Norfolk/Suffolk area of England. On her husbands death in 60 AD, the Romans took her territory and treated her, her daughters, and her people brutally. She gathered a large army and destroyed the Roman colony of Camulodunum, took Londinium, and Verulamium. She put to death as many as 70,000 Romans. The governor of Britain advanced against her and she suffered defeat. As a result she took poison.
