Spain had a fairly brutal civil war during the late 1930's, and the Finns had a civil war around 1917. The main other famous civil war was fought in China, it started in 1927. The opposing sides were the kuomintang(the nationalists), led by Chiang Kai-Shek and the Communist Chinese, led by Mao Zedog who won and drove the kuomintang into Taiwan.
