The long term causal effects of the War of 1812 came about as a result of the United States claiming to be neutral in the war between France and Britain, yet still giving supplies to the French. The US made a bill known as Macon's Law No. 2, which promised support to the government that stopped attacking US ships. Napoleon tricked them by saying he would, but in actuality failed to do so. Britain viewed this as an act of antagonism from the US.

1. Continued violation of U.S. neutral rights at sea- Both Britain and France violated this. However, British violations seemed to be more blatant because of the impression of American seamen. Also because of the their cruelty during the American revolution.

2. Frontier Pressures- Americans on the frontier longed for British Canada. Tecumseh, a warrior and a religious leader tried to united all Indian tribes west of the Mississippi river. General William Henry Harrison destroyed Indian efforts in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. Britain offered little support to Tecumseh, however they were blamed for instigating the rebellion.
