Many interesting things happened in history today, the 16th of January. Among them are Vermont declaring its independence from New York in 1777, the worlds largest pipeline opened in 1951 and the U.S.S.R announced a 2 year mission to Mars in 1989.
In 1991 on January 16th, President George Herbert Walker Bush announced the start of operation Desert Storm. On the same day in 1547, Ivan the Terrible was crowned Czar of Russia.
