the battle of the bogside It was a 3 day riot between Catholic's and the RUC; it began with the apprentice boy's march, through Londonderry, what lead to anger and the Catholic's violent attack. during the start of the battle, Catholic's would throw stones at the RUC, they began to retaliate and throw them back, but soon the Catholic rioters began throwing petrol bombs, both from on the ground and on top of roofs. they began building barriers to try and stop the RUC from getting further into Londonderry. The Catholics lost a lot of trust in the government and refused to go to the hospitals, so they had to build tents outside of Londonderry for injured rioters. Could you please say it before the Battle of Bogside, I would like to know what happened before it because I am unsure what led up to it because of this. Thanks.

When the British Army was first called in to quell the situation in the British territory of Northern Ireland, the Catholics actually welcomed their presence, believing they would be a neutral force as opposed to the RUC and B-Specials, which were made up of Protestants, and the pro-British Protestant community wanted them sent back to the mainland, upset at the disbanding of the B-Specials.
