The Russian Federation is counted as European, and has the highest population of that continent with just over 141 million people; it is also the ninth most populated in the world.

If the Federation is discounted, the next largest population is Germany, at fourteenth in the world with not quite 82 million. Following both is France at twentieth and 65 million people.

Russia is the most populous country in Europe. Even though Russia is a transcontinental country (spanning both Europe and Asia), over 110,000,000 Russians live in the European portion of Russia [143,000,000 in Russia total].

Germany is the most populous country that is wholly in Europe, with 82,000,000.
